Eefje’s father and his partner publish a book on the Dutroux affair: “We want to prove that concrete clues have not been examined”

The couple, who have just written a new book entitled “Dossier Dutroux: the truth”, were helped in their research by Jean-Pierre Adam, one of the principal investigators of the Neufchâteau cell. The book, edited by “Vrijdag”, will be released this Friday. 25 years ago, on Sunday 23 August, Eefje Lambrecks and An Marchal disappeared in Blankenberge and were only found a year and 12 days later.

“The book was born because we still do not know what exactly happened to the children. There are elements which have not been investigated and which do not correspond to the version known to all” , explains Els Schreurs on Tuesday.

The investigation suggested that Marc Dutroux was a lone pervert who had committed the acts simply to meet his needs. A point of view that the Lambrecks and other relatives do not share. “The official reading of all the documents does not provide any answer to all these questions”, underlines Els Schreurs.

Jean Lambrecks, for his part, believes that Marc Dutroux was part of a larger international criminal network with ramifications in the Netherlands and Germany.

There is for example the track of a doctor who, shortly after June 24, 1995, date of disappearance of Julie and Mélissa, had seen a red car, a Ford Fiesta, at the scene of their disappearance. “He had written it in a letter and had given it to the then gendarmerie in September. He even gave the first numbers and a first letter of the license plate. According to the Liège investigators, it was not The license plate was in the name of the wife of a person close to Dutroux, also present at the Hotel Brazil in Blankenberge. This therefore constitutes a link between the disappearance of Julie and Melissa and Dutroux and that of An and Eefje. If we had investigated this point perhaps a lot of human suffering would have been spared, “adds the companion of Jean Lambrecks.

“We want to prove that concrete clues were not examined. Principal investigator Jean-Pierre Adam was involved (…) in the investigation, but was clearly faced with reluctance (…) In the book, we corroborate everything with minutes and reports from the case, “further specify Els Schreurs and Jean Lambrecks, who have spent nine years looking for the truth.

Marc Dutroux, Michelle Martin and their accomplice Michel Lelièvre were convicted in June 2004 by the Arlon Assize Court. Marc Dutroux had been sentenced to life imprisonment. As for Michelle Martin, sentenced to 30 years in prison, and Michel Lelièvre, who had received a 25-year sentence, they have meanwhile been released.
