Edwin Spee lives without guilt: ‘Bibian would have wanted it that way’

Biban’s life motto ‘collect memories, not possessions’ is the common thread in Edwin’s columns. “I am sad, but not collapsed and can live well with the sadness,” Edwin told the magazine. According to Bibian’s lover, they regularly discussed what would happen after her death. “That I pick up my life and live on, I do without feeling guilty. Bibian had wanted it this way and often enough said to me: ‘I wish you happiness.’ I’m making new memories with our family now.”

According to Edwin, his wife was always positive, even when the cancer kept coming back. “‘What memories can we still make?’ That was what Bibian always asked,” says Edwin. “We didn’t look at the sadness, which of course there was, but at the time we had left. What else could we do?”

From September 16, Edwin’s first column can be read in Magriet.
