The New York Mets are building a strong team. One can think of the fact that Taijuan Walker wants to stay in town in the long term, in particular.
But he is not the only one. Edwin Diaz, closer training, would also like to extend his long-term stay in Queens.
He will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Obviously, Diaz has had his ups and downs since arriving from Seattle, but clearly he’s adjusted well to New York. He’s done well to become an important pitcher for the club and the fans like him.
The Mets are aiming for top honors for the next few years and they’ll need a ninth-inning specialist for the long haul. If it’s not him, it’ll take another.
So I expect, if his demands aren’t crazy, to see him sign with the Mets in the next few months.
