But Edvin Anger rode with broken material when he missed the sprint final.
– The ski doesn’t follow when I lift my leg, says Anger.
Just over a minute into the men’s second semi-final came the situation that ruined Edvin Anger.
The Swede had shown good form in Saturday’s freestyle sprint, but after hooking up with the American Ben Ogden, everything became more difficult.
– It was very good until the stuff broke, notes Anger.
Stormed away
After the collision, the binding on one of Anger’s skis broke.
– As I understand it, me and Ben hooked into each other on the first peak. Then I notice that the ski becomes very unstable downhill and so I can’t really push uphill. The ski doesn’t follow when I lift my leg and I push the boot down next to the ski instead of on it, says Anger.
He goes on to say:
– When I reach the finish line, I see that the bindings have completely loosened. Then it’s no wonder I couldn’t ride the way I wanted. The stuff has to be whole, it is. But that can happen if you hook into each other, unfortunately.
Anger threw away the binding and stormed off after a suprt duel where he was not far from fighting for a place in the final, despite the broken binding.
– I spoke to the fencer and the coach. It was just as well to calm down, otherwise you just say a lot of stupid things, says Anger.
Kläbo won
The men’s final was a showdown without Swedes.
Johannes Hösflot Kläbo took revenge after a couple of tough weeks and did what he has done many times before: won.
Kläbo took the victory ahead of Frenchman Lucas Chanavat and compatriot Håvard Solås Taugböl.
