Before Eid, flight ticket price soared wildly. The ticket price to Balikpapan alone is the same as going to New York!
From detikTravel’s monitoring on several OTA (Online Travel Agent) sites, Friday (29/4/2022), ticket prices from Soekarno Hatta International Airport Jakarta to Balikpapan reached Rp. 11,190,200 for round trip ahead of Eid.
Whereas on normal days, the ticket price is only IDR 2,500,000 million. The ticket price from Jakarta to Balikpapan is equivalent to the ticket price from Jakarta to New York which is nominally around Rp. 11,790,600 or even to Japan.

On a separate occasion, the Governor of Aceh, Nova Iriansyah, even wrote to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the price of plane tickets for the Jakarta-Aceh route which had gone up insanely. Ticket prices from Jakarta to Aceh penetrated up to Rp. 9.6 million ahead of the 2022 Eid homecoming.
Not only writing to President Jokowi, Nova also sent letters to a number of airlines providing the Jakarta-Aceh route. Not to forget the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.
Nova also asked for an evaluation of the flight rates for the Banda Aceh-Medan route, which is only served by one airline, namely Wings Air. The essence of the letter is that the Aceh Government requests that there are additional airlines to Aceh.
“From the information we got from the Ministry of Transportation, in addition to the surge in passengers ahead of Eid, the price of aviation fuel also has an impact on the increase in passenger ticket prices,” said Aceh Government Spokesperson Muhammad MTA in a statement, Thursday (28/4).
“Besides the ministry’s intervention related to price spikes, the other most important thing is that as soon as possible there will be additional airlines operating in Aceh,” said MTA.
