JAÉN, 23 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE), has programmed three actions to create and improve schools in the La Magdalena neighborhood of Jaén within the Educational Infrastructure Plan, which will represent a Total estimated investment of 6.78 million euros.
This has been indicated by the general director of the aforementioned agency, Manuel Cortés, after the visit he has made to the plot of the Center for Infant and Primary Education (CEIP) Ruiz Jiménez, as reported this Tuesday in a note by the Andalusian Government.
On the one hand, the extension and adaptation of the school will be carried out, remodeling a currently unused building and, on the other, the reform of the building used by the center to be allocated to Secondary. The third action will consist of the construction of a Dance Conservatory on an adjoining plot.
In this way, with a programmed investment of 2.44 million euros, the currently unused building of CEIP Ruiz Jiménez will be adapted to house the Infant and Primary stages, expanding it to provide it with the spaces typical of a C1 type center ( A line).
In addition, 1.55 million euros will be allocated to reform and adapt the current facilities of the school, so that they will now house the headquarters of Secondary Education in the neighborhood, with the transfer of students currently located at the IES San Juan Bosco.
Finally, with an estimated investment of 2.78 million euros, the construction of a new Professional Dance Conservatory is contemplated next to CEIP Ruiz Jiménez, in the annex located on Calle Molino de la Condesa Teresa de Torres. This will be possible thanks to the transfer of said plot, of more than 1,500 square meters, by the Jaén City Council.
In order to undertake all these infrastructures, given the nature of a protected construction and its location in the historic center of the city, within the scope of the Special Plan for the Protection and Interior Reform of the Historic Center, it is essential to carry out an archaeological intervention that has already been contracted.
Cortés has thus been transferred by the management of the center, to whom he has advanced the “imminent processing” of the works to reform one of the school’s playgrounds, since the other will be rendered useless by the archaeological excavations.
The general director of the APAE has also recalled that the Ministry of Education has a strategic plan in place that seeks to revitalize the historic center of Jaén and that presents as a transversal axis the promotion of artistic education.
In this sense, along with the actions that will be carried out in the La Magdalena block, the construction of a new headquarters for the Basic Music Education of Jaén has also included in the 2021 Educational Infrastructure Plan with a budget of 808,200 euros.
The infrastructure will be located in an unused zone that is included in the current grounds of the Santo Tomás school and will be a “shock” both for this school and for the Ramón Garay Conservatory of Music.
