After six weeks of summer vacation, the serious business of life begins again in the 1,810 schools in Hesse. 810,000 girls and boys are now in school in the state, including 60,400 first-graders – 1,600 more than in the previous school year. Teaching German values
In addition to German language support, the more than 36,500 refugee and immigrant children and young people in the intensive classes will now also receive two hours per week in which the focus will be on imparting the values that apply here and on democratic education.
The so-called digital truck for primary schools is being expanded to include fifth and sixth grades and supplemented by workshops on artificial intelligence (AI). According to the Ministry of Education, 80 schools with fifth and sixth grades in Hesse are now taking part in the school trial of the new subject of the digital world. Expansion to seventh grades is planned. The “Artificial Intelligence in Schools and Teaching” manual for teachers is continuously updated, according to the ministry.
