Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Despite the increasing number of infections, some corona rules in schools in the southwest are being relaxed again. During the break in the school yard, i.e. outside the school building outdoors, the mask can be removed again, provided the distance to other people is at least 1.5 meters, as Minister of Education Susanne Eisenmann (CDU) announced on Thursday. This is a reaction to comprehensible and justified feedback from schools and parents – the permanent mask requirement is a special burden for the students and also for the teachers. The mask can also be dispensed with in intermediate and final exams, provided that the Minimum distance is observed.

With the proclamation of the highest pandemic level, the use of the schools for non-school purposes was also prohibited – this was perceived by various sides as too extensive, the ministry said. Numerous music schools and adult education centers were in fact no longer able to use school rooms. However, extracurricular partners are often dependent on the school rooms, emphasized Eisenmann. “That is why we are now returning to the old regulation and continue to enable schools to be used outside of school subject to strict hygiene requirements,” says the minister.
