Education – pandemic consequences for students – Studentenwerk sound the alarm – education

Berlin (dpa) – The German Student Union is sounding the alarm for students because of the consequences of the pandemic.

“The psychosocial counseling of the student and student services is literally overrun, the waiting times are getting longer,” said the general secretary of the German student union, Matthias Anbuhl, the German press agency. The federal and state governments urgently need to increase resources in an action program. “We need up to ten million euros in the next four semesters,” said Anbuhl. He appealed to the federal and state governments to give more consideration to such issues in the corona crisis policy.

Students suffered from a lack of classroom teaching. “Loneliness, digital isolation and depressive mood are often the result.” Anbuhl demanded that universities remain open as long as possible. “And in case of doubt that also means: longer than bars, restaurants, football stadiums and other parts of public life.”
