Germany has to catch up a lot in terms of digitization, says Bavaria’s Minister of Education, Michael Piazolo. The corona pandemic provided unexpected help.

The Bavarian Minister of Culture Michael Piazolo is of the opinion that
Germany has to catch up a lot in terms of digitization. “You have to clearly communicate that in recent years, especially between 2000 and 2017, a lot has been overslept with digitization – in Germany as a whole,” said the politician (

Now, however, he sees the country on the right path – also through the corona pandemic. “What we have been able to implement in the past nine or ten months has otherwise not been possible in many years”, emphasizes Piazolo and adds: “We can try a lot – take our team teachers or the school assistants. We are now on the right track. ”

The Minister of Education announced that the Bavarian schools should become even more digital. “We want to set up teachers’ e-mail addresses, so we’ve already started. Cloud solutions will come so that administrative tasks can be carried out digitally, for example grade management.” (THE)
