Bring together two communities, a university laboratory, educational establishments, the Academy and the central services of National Education, without forgetting the Banque des Territoires and you obtain a powerful consortium intended to innovate to promote learning and autonomy for young people. Ardennes. The project is called Oasis and it reached a new decisive step this Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the Hôtel du Département.
OASIS, for Organization of Learning in the Service of School Itineraries, has the main objective of promoting the autonomy of students through new school forms to, ultimately, increase their ambition.
Supported by the Departmental Services Department of National Education of the Ardennes in partnership with the Departmental Council of the Ardennes, the Grand Est Region, and the University of Cergy-Pontoise (BONHEURS Laboratory), it must develop over a period of 5 years whose starting point was given this Wednesday, November 22 through the official signature of the creation of a consortium* (Editor’s note*: group composed of several entities working together to achieve a common objective) allowing the realization of the projects imagined in the framework of Oasis.
They said it
Concretely, this involves two main axes: equipping classrooms (middle and high schools) with “innovative” furniture and putting into circulation a bus equipped with digital tools to “go towards” young people in rural areas.
The goals pursued by OASIS fit perfectly into the approach initiated by the Departmental Council via its College Ambition Plan, which aims to improve teaching conditions for all Ardennes middle school students. This is why CD08 is actively participating in this experiment and plans to set up modular classes with specific furniture in the different colleges involved.
This approach is also part of the educational digital development plan, currently being deployed. Indeed, with the connection of all Ardennes colleges to fiber, the Departmental Council wishes to harmonize all digital equipment for the benefit of students, and develop uses.
“It is a great pride to see the mobilization and commitment of the Departmental Council to Ardennes secondary school students recognized and we are happy to participate in making the Ardennes a land of innovation serving the success of young people and their future development », declared President Noël Bourgeois, surrounded by Nathalie Robcis, president of the Education, Sport and Culture Commission of CD08, and Stéphanie Simon, departmental advisor.
Also present to formalize this partnership were regional advisor Guillaume Maréchal and the academic director of National Education Services (Dasen) of the Ardennes Catherine Moalic.
“The Ardennes allow us to access an entire territory in which our laboratory will be able to think about how to transform the form and the very concept of class,” explained the representative of the University of Cergy-Pontoise. . Thank you for allowing us to carry out this research which will also be essential for training future teachers. »
“The educational alliance of all stakeholders and territorial anchoring will be the keys to the success of innovation in education,” underlined the Banque des Territoires which will support the project both financially, through the France 2030 plan, than in engineering.
“This signature is both an outcome, that of the Call for Expressions of Interest, and a starting point,” concluded Vincent Stanek, the rector of the Academy of Reims. Innovation in rural areas is taking shape today because the departments are facing immense challenges. I am very enthusiastic and I can’t wait to see the great initiatives continue to flourish in this department where there is so much energy! »
The first Steering Committee of the Oasis consortium immediately followed the official signing, proof that all stakeholders are impatient to make their commitments to the young people of the Ardennes tangible.
Oasis in brief
Oasis was born from a Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) France 2030 “Innovation in the school form”. The project was selected from among 23 eligible applications, for a budget which is currently around 10 million euros and will be subsidized as part of France 2030.
Oasis intends to develop two approaches to strengthen the autonomy of young people in the Ardennes:
• a “go towards” approach via a bus fitted out with high-performance technological equipment and run by a project team, becoming a class or mobile laboratory open to schoolchildren, middle schoolers and high school students;
• an approach linked to buildings by experimenting with new learning spaces, with an emphasis on transition periods (CM2/6e, 3e/2de, Terminale/Superior).
