The Swiss ski cross specialist Luca Lubasch is resigning with immediate effect and is enrolling in sports studies in Magglingen.
Munich – The Swiss Luca Lubasch has surprisingly ended his career in professional sports. Shortly before the start of the new ski cross season, the 29-year-old decided against the sport and to study.
Ski ace announces his retirement
Lubasch looks back on a successful sporting career. The athlete from the Unterbach Ski Club took part in the World Cup 13 times and achieved his best result of 16th place in Val Thorens in December 2022. He even celebrated a victory in the European Cup in Lenk.
But the path wasn’t always easy: injuries overshadowed his career, especially a serious knee injury. “After the knee injury in December 2022, I worked hard on my comeback, but was slowed down again by foot injuries during pre-season preparation last fall. This is still causing me problems, which is why I decided with a heavy heart to leave professional sport behind,” explained Lubasch in the official announcement from the Swiss Ski Association.

Despite the challenges and unfulfilled sporting dreams, he has no regrets and continues to see sport as an important part of his life.

Now Lubasch has started a new chapter. In Magglingen he started a bachelor’s degree in sports. “This week I started my bachelor’s degree in sports in Magglingen and am really looking forward to the coming years, in which I will learn a lot so that I can one day return to competitive sports in a different role,” Lubasch continued on his Instagram -Account.
