The Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education, has made public the tender for the construction works of two new Secondary Education Institutes (IES) in the province of Malaga, which will be located in Las Chapas de Marbella and in the area of Las Lagunas de Mijas and add up to a total of 12,190,226.8 million euros .
For the first, a budget of 6,659,196.91 euros has been allocated and with an execution period of 18 months from its inception. In the case of Mijas, they are 5,531,029.85 euros and the same execution period, as reported by the Board in a statement.
The IES of Marbella will allow responding to the demand for schooling in the area and will allow the removal of five prefabricated modules. It will be of the D4 + B2.2 type, that is, a center with four lines of compulsory secondary and two of high school, which means a total of 620 school places (480 of secondary and 140 of high school). The new building will be located on a 11,761 square meter plot near the Costa del Sol Hospital and will have a total constructed area of 5,391 square meters.
The center will have, in the secondary area, 16 multipurpose classrooms, two split-level classrooms, two for pedagogical support and reinforcement, two music classrooms, two workshop classrooms and two plastic and audiovisual education classrooms. Likewise, there will be a specific special education classroom that will have an adjacent toilet adapted for students with special needs, equipped with a shower and space for a stretcher.
For high school education there will be four multipurpose classrooms, a double room and another for pedagogical support and reinforcement, three laboratories, a drawing room, another for technology and a practice room. The teaching area of the center will also have a library, ten departments, a gym and changing rooms.
In the administration area will be located the offices of management, head of studies and secretary, orientation room, office for associations of parents of students and for the students themselves, concierge and reprographics, secretariat and archive and teachers room . As common services, the institute will have a cafeteria, a general store, four facilities, and a cleaning and garbage room. Finally, in the outdoor spaces there will be covered porches, two sports courts, parking for teachers, a garden area, a playground and a vegetable garden.
For its part, the new IES in Las Lagunas de Mijas will have six compulsory secondary school lines (D6), which will mean creating a total of 720 new school places to absorb the existing demand in the area. The building will be built on a 7,358-square-meter plot located next to the Indira Gandhi public nursery and primary school.
The new institute will have, in the teaching area, 24 multipurpose high school classrooms, a library, a gym room with changing rooms, two music classrooms, two plastic classrooms and two workshop classrooms, two laboratories, ten departments and six double and double classrooms. pedagogical reinforcement. There will also be a special education classroom with its corresponding specially adapted toilet.
The administration area will house the secretariat and archive and the concierge and reprographics, the teachers’ room, the offices of management, secretary, orientation and head of studies, and the offices for the association of mothers and fathers of the students and for the own student body. The center will also have a cafeteria, a storage room for resources, a cleaning room, toilets and changing rooms for non-teaching personnel, facilities rooms, and so on.
Two sports courts, a playground, a school garden, covered porches and garden areas will be built outside the center. There is also a vehicle parking area for teachers. In total, the center will have a constructed area of 6,038 square meters.
Likewise, the center will have photovoltaic solar panels for the production of electrical energy, in line with the objective of achieving more sustainable educational buildings and reducing their energy costs. Likewise, it will have a natural ventilation system developed by the Agency to guarantee indoor air quality. This will be made up, in each of the classrooms, of automated push-button windows and a carbon dioxide sensor that will determine the level from which its opening will be activated.
The construction of both centers is part of the Educational Infrastructures Plan of the Ministry of Education and Sports, which is executed through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education. This action has European co-financing through the React-EU funds within the Operational Program Feder de Andalucía 2014-2020, as part of the European Union’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
