Education in Huíla with an increase of 600 places in relation to the previous public competition – Jornal OPaís

The Ministry of Education (MED) has made available, for the province of Huíla, a total of 1195 vacancies that can be filled with the admission competition in the sector, registrations for this part of the national territory begin today

The largest share of teachers to be admitted in the admission competition that begins today falls to those municipalities with the greatest need for teachers, due to the transfers and retirement of many.

The province of Huíla needs around 3 thousand teachers, mainly for primary education and, due to this need, more than 400 thousand children of school age are outside the normal education system.

The municipalities that will receive the most teachers throughout the province of Huíla are: Caconda, Caluquembe, Chibia, Chicomba, Chipindo and Cuvango, with 90 vacancies each.

The director of the Provincial Education Office in Huíla, Paula Baptista Joaquim, said that all the conditions have already been created to start registration in the 14 municipalities that make up the province.

“Compared to the last public competition, there is an increase of 614 vacancies. These municipalities are those that most suffer from the lack of more than 3,000 teachers in the province, leaving more than 400,000 students out of the system.

The level of priorities also covers the municipalities of Quipungo, Gambos and Calcula with 88 vacancies each, while Lubango has the lowest number, with 31 vacancies”, he said.

According to the head of the Education sector in Huíla, candidates qualified with the primary education teacher training course, carried out in Primary Teaching, Higher Institutes of Educational Sciences and Higher Pedagogical Schools, in pre-school specialties, constitute the priority.

“For this public entrance exam, circumstances such as: certificate of studies that qualify the candidate to exercise a profession other than teaching are impediments; declaration of course attendance; certificate of higher education qualifications completed abroad, without proof of recognition from INAAREES; certificate of secondary education qualifications and candidates who are already public servants, within the career of education agents”, he explained.

Currently, the provincial Education office in Huíla controls more than 19,500 teachers, 581 of which joined in 2022. The school network has 933 schools, 800,700 students were enrolled this academic year.
