Language officers are educators who are specially trained in dealing with so-called everyday language and who provide input on this topic to the entire daycare team. In addition, there is specialist advice from the daycare provider. These “super professionals” advise the language officers, but also the entire team and continually bring in new input.
“Singing songs together or listening to and telling stories, painting and doing crafts and sharing your thoughts and feelings, discussing what’s happening over lunch”: this is how children learn language in a playful and lively way, said Hubig. This everyday language support is based on a scientific concept, and it also strengthens equal opportunities and educational justice.
