Education: For the first time, nationwide advice for prospective students

Pharmacy, computer science or something with media? After graduation, high school graduates are spoiled for choice. A new offer on the Internet should help them with their decision.

In order not to lose track of the huge selection of hundreds of courses, dozens of colleges and many universities, schoolchildren can now also look for advice online. On June 30, study advisors for universities want to provide information nationwide and digitally for the first time about the courses on offer and about application hurdles when looking for a suitable subject. A total of more than 1700 courses are offered at over 50 colleges and universities in Baden-Württemberg.

“Early information and competent advice are elementary for later academic success,” said Science Minister Theresia Bauer in Stuttgart. “Those who know what they want to study and who are sure of their choice are also more motivated and satisfied with their studies.”

The digital help is an initiative of the Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB). It is possible to visit several universities at the same time during the online consultation evening. The offer is aimed primarily at spontaneous and undecided people, because the application deadline for most courses for the winter semester 2022/2023 ends on July 15, 2022.
