“In cases similar to this, the Department of Education immediately implements what is known as a precautionary measure. This is the immediate separation of the teacher from his work in the agency and then he cannot have contact with the minors,” the official explained in an interview with Meter.
Likewise, Hernández explained that later the regional educational office to which his workplace belongs will follow up on the case.
The investigation will take time
On the time that the investigation will take, the head of Education explained that it depends on the context of the complaint of the affected people. “A complaint from the Puerto Rico Police has to be examined and the affidavits of the affected people are also completed,” he added.
Furthermore, Hernández said it is a complex process. “In order to guarantee the safety of the students and the due law with the teaching staff, administrative measures are implemented at the end of the investigation,” he said.
