A crazy scandal flared up in the education committee at Dupnitsa Municipal College because of the situation with the High School. While the councilors were meeting, we called the chairman, Violeta Inkiova, with the question of their position in relation to the scandals in the most elite school in the municipality. As is known, after the principal and vice-principals got into arguments with some of the teachers, the headmistresses resigned together and are vacating their posts within days. Meanwhile, none of the teachers wants to take the leadership positions in the school. Information also appeared that during an audit in the school, financial discrepancies were found. “I don’t have a position, I’m putting you on speakerphone, the whole committee is here. I don’t know what is happening in the school, yes, I read about financial discrepancies,” said Inkiova, who is the former director of Paisii Hilendarski SEU. Part of the commission is Asen Iliev from BSP, who was a teacher at the school. “I know everything, but I dare not speak,” he announced, after which Inkiova hung up the phone. Iliev has repeatedly reported that there are problems at the school, but since he is a former teacher, he prefers to remain neutral. However, he expressed the opinion that the principal, Maria Gizdova, is not suitable for the position and that the school is going downhill. Our sources from the municipality revealed that after our call in the committee, a dispute broke out among the members.

All of them have so far not made a statement on the subject. They did not present ideas related to the development of the educational system in the municipality, and the commission is the body called to form the educational policy in Dupnitsa. Each of the councilors receives BGN 460 per month, half of which is precisely because they participate in committees and hold meetings. Apparently, however, they do not discuss the educational problems of the municipality, but pronounce on reports that have nothing to do with education, but their salaries have been flowing for 4 years. Inkiova heads the commission for three terms. We also asked the chairman of the Municipal Council in Dupnitsa, Kostadin Kostadinov, for a comment. He stated that he feels guilty for what is happening at the “Hristo Botev” Profiled High School.

She assured me that everything was over, the tension had subsided and I put the matter behind me. Now I see that things are not good, I heard about an audit, about a new wave of scandals – I haven’t seen the financial report, I think it’s not in the commission, but the document should go to the State Department and it should be known what is happening in the educational institution. The fact is that our children leave the city to study somewhere else, in Kyustendil they received permission to open second math classes after the 5th grade, and in Dupnitsa we were lied to.”
