Education: CEPE exams maintained this year

The abolition of the examination for obtaining the Elementary Primary Study Certificate (CEPE) has not yet come into force this year. On the contrary, the related preparations are underway, just like the other official exams.

CM2 students will go through an official assessment to move on to the next grade, as has been the case for years. A source with the Ministry of National Education (Men) confirmed this yesterday. “The plan to abolish the CEPE is not yet for this school year, the relevant tests are currently being prepared (…) The necessary procedures, starting with registrations, are only waiting for the exit from the calendar of tests”.
“According to the proposal submitted to the government, after consultation between the supervisory ministry and private establishments, the CEPE and the BEPC are scheduled for the month of July,” said the founding president of the national direction of secular institutions ( Wing), Célin Rakotomalala. This proposal will be submitted to the next government council on Friday. “Even if registrations for the CEPE tests usually begin in January, the implementation of this approach during the current month is not clearly behind schedule”, reassured the manager.
For the return to the old school calendar

Education stakeholders, especially those from private establishments are unanimous in promoting a return to the old school calendar, i.e. the start of the school year in October and the end of the school year in the month of July. An agenda that the latter intend to apply from the 2021-2022 school year. However, they offered to organize this year’s CEPE and BEPC sessions in July. For their part, private schools wish to schedule the next sessions of the CEPE before June 26, as before, according to Célin Rakotomalala.
