The Fischer family survives corona infection / difficult everyday school life mastered without hesitation.
. For the Fischer family in Birkendorf it was always clear to adhere to AHA rules and to limit contacts in the corona pandemic. Mainly because of Adrian (11), who suffers from asthma, and also because of the 75-year-old grandmother. Adrian and his grandmother received a flu shot in the fall. Despite all caution, what should not happen happened: Daniela and Martin Fischer and the children Adrian and Lorenz were infected with Corona at the beginning of December.
At first it looked like an ordinary cold, Adrian began to cough. The high school student had received a message the day before that a classmate at the Klettgau high school was infected. Adrian and his nine-year-old brother Lorenz stayed at home. Daniela Fischer worked alone in the office, Martin Fischer was in the home office the week before the outbreak. He should go to work in Switzerland the next day. Since his employer stipulates strict protection against infection and Martin Fischer did not feel well, he went to the corona test. This was positive. “I fell from the clouds because we were nowhere where we could get infected,” says Daniela Fischer. She too became ill, had headaches and aching limbs, accompanied by a high fever. What followed was the immediate quarantine of the entire family. Probably Adrian was the first to get it. Where exactly is unclear. The 75-year-old grandmother also fell ill four days later. The corona test at the family doctor confirmed the infection with her and Daniela Fischer. The children were not tested.
“I assume that the flu vaccination saved Adrian and my mother from a more severe course of the disease,” said Daniela Fischer. The nine-year-old elementary school student Lorenz showed no signs of infection.
Adrian and Lorenz have not had face-to-face lessons since December 7th. It is increasingly difficult for them and their parents to motivate themselves to study at home. “Of course we would be happy if the children could go back to school. They suffer and miss their classmates, and for us as parents it is a challenge with a weekly plan, programs and learning material. But if it is a matter of protecting human lives, then you have to Realize that education can be made up for, one cannot bring back a human life, “says Daniela Fischer. In their opinion, catching up on the subject matter at the grammar school would be achieved with a change from G 8 to G 9 and would be absolutely desirable.
After Christmas everyone in the Fischer family was healthy again. An antibody test of the children at the family doctor later showed that both had antibodies, i.e. that they were infected.
