To face the challenges of the moment, society needs social cohesion. However, this cannot be decreed; it is closely linked to the level of equity observed in education.
Par Eric Burgraff
SA feeling of social downgrading, disaffiliation in the face of the pillars of the democratic system, electoral absenteeism, rise of populism… From one gear to another, we observe a widening of the fractures within our society. Hence the interest shown today, both by researchers in social sciences and by politicians, in the concept of “social cohesion”. To put it simply, let’s say that we are talking about strong social cohesion when solid links develop between inhabitants of the same neighborhood, the same city, the same region … and these links transcend the differences between social classes, between generations, between levels of education.
