“Education and Social Cohesion in Priority Districts: Understanding Diversity and Empowering Students”

The benefits of this mix are observed both on the academic level, by promoting the success of students in the most disadvantaged classes, and on the level of social cohesion, by removing the barriers and social handicaps caused to the group.

The Lille Métropole Development and Urban Planning Agency has carried out observation work on social diversity at school in the priority districts of urban policy (QPV) of the European Metropolis of Lille and more generally in establishments within the scope of the Territorial Coherence Scheme (SCOT) of Lille Métropole to better understand the weaknesses and specificities that characterize these districts.

What is the degree of social diversity at school in mainland France and in the QPVs? What role does the school map play? What avoidance strategies are observed? What is the link between social segregation and academic success in the territory?
