(Bonn) – On the occasion of the international conference of the G7 and the EU Commission on the reconstruction of Ukraine, the Rectors’ Conferences of Germany (HRK), France (France Universités) and Poland (KRASP) invoked the importance of education and research to be considered in planning to be adequately taken into account.
In a joint statement, the Rectors’ Conferences underline their willingness to collaborate in the long term to support Ukraine in creating modern and attractive universities internationally. As the hub of a functioning education and research system, they play a central role in the reconstruction and long-term positive development of Ukrainian society and economy. Universities capable of work are the prerequisite for the training of experts and managers for business, politics and society in Ukraine; ensure that research and development can support the reconstruction of destroyed infrastructure in all central fields of action.
The Rectors’ Conferences ask the G7 and the European Commission to create appropriate political and financial conditions to allow long-term cooperation between Ukrainian and European universities. The long-term nature of the efforts is the key to social and economic reconstruction and the successful further development of Ukraine as part of the European community of states.
