Algeria: The Ministry of National Education, through the National Office of School Publications, will begin printing 950,000 new books in English, which will be aimed specifically at third-grade students only, to be distributed to primary schools in a deadline of September 10, in application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who recently announced that the subject will be officially taught, from the next academic year 2022/2023.

Official sources have said that the National Office for School Publications, through its specialist interests, will print 950,000 new books in English, which will be specifically aimed at third-year pupils, during the month of August, a process which will take a total of only one week. It is ready in large quantities at the start of the next school year, thanks to the state-of-the-art equipment and means which have recently supported the office, on condition that they be transferred and distributed in approximately 20,000 primary schools from the date of September 10 by the state centers for educational dissemination and publication.

Our sources have confirmed that the decision to include English in primary education will be implemented gradually, as this school year will affect third graders, provided that it includes the rest of the education levels. that is to say the fourth and the fifth in the next few years.
The same sources indicated that the specialized commissions responsible for completing the new English book, set up by the Ministry of National Education, had drawn up a solid school program including lessons adapted to the age and level of knowledge of third graders (eight years), by achieving harmony between writing, images and illustrations, to train the learner in reading. From an early age, he is able to master both verbal and non-verbal languages, then work to achieve clear and precise educational objectives.
With regard to the rest of the textbooks for the three subjects and teaching phases, the same sources confirmed that the National Office of School Publications has printed 70 million books, in preparation for the coming school year, while indicating that the process of their commercialization has officially started through various media and means such as electronic sales, private libraries, points of sale and exhibitions, and they will be offered at the same regulated prices without any increase, in order to facilitate the process parents and put an end to their queuing for long hours to get the book.
It has also been decided to open an exhibition for the sale of textbooks at the Palais des Expositions “Sfax” in Algiers on the first of September, in addition to opening exhibitions across the various states of the country, while our sources have confirmed that the office had managed to sell 50 million books out of the 80 books that were printed under the title of the last school year 2021/2022.
It is reported that the Minister of National Education confirmed the will of his interests to ensure the teaching of English in primary education, by concretizing the decision of President Tebboune concerning the deadlines for the next school year in all its aspects related to the curriculum, the textbook, supervision, training and appropriate pedagogical bodies.
