District wants to order more
In these times of
Corona digital school lessons have gained in importance. But not a few students have no laptops, notebooks or tablets at home. In order not to put them at a disadvantage, the federal and state governments have launched the “Special Budget for Loan Devices” funding program. The district has already procured 500 devices for its secondary schools, and more are to follow, as reported by the district administrator
Hans Reichhart (
CSU) was explained in the school committee of the district council. It was also decided to hire two IT specialists to provide technical assistance to the schools.
So far, the district has received 323,000 euros from the “special loan equipment budget”. With this, 500 devices were procured that are used by the children at home and at school. The state government has meanwhile expanded the funding program, the district could receive a further 124,500 euros. According to Reichhart, that would be enough for an additional 200 to 250 devices. The district would have to add an estimated 30,000 euros from its own resources. Devices alone are not enough. They have to be equipped, looked after and serviced. In order to relieve the teachers at the schools for which the district is responsible, two IT specialists are to be employed. The members of the school committee approved the proposal of the administration as well as the plan to provide a good 30,000 euros for the procurement of further appliances in the household.
