It’s no surprise the Blue Jays need a starting pitcher. And when I say one pitcher, I mean two pitchers …
This is why the formation of the City-Queen is kept informed in the file Steven Matz, a pitcher that the club hopes to bring back, and in that of Robbie Ray. But in the case of the latter, several clubs are in the race and the price could quickly become exorbitant.
The club therefore have no choice but to have other options on the table in the event that the two 2021 pitchers decide to leave. After all, aside from Alek Manoah, Jose Berrios and Hyun-Jin Ryu, the club’s rotation is incomplete.
To compensate, the team therefore has Eduardo Rodriguez in the sights, who launched in Boston in 2021.
The pitcher is tied to a qualifying offer, which does not seem to hold back the Jays too much. After all, the club is aiming for talent, period.
Speaking of the qualifying offer, the pitcher should decline it. With the Tigers, Angels and Blue Jays on his heels (in addition to the Red Sox and all the clubs that are in the shadows), he could secure a multi-season contract.
It’s no wonder to see the Tigers and Angels in the lot. After all, both clubs need backup on the mound.
I don’t expect the pitcher to sign by the end of November, though.
