Eduardo Pimentel complains about the decision on relegation in the League – Colombian Soccer – Sports

The decision on whether or not there is a decline in Colombian football this year once again lengthened the assembly of the Dimayor, this Thursday. For more than three hours, the leaders engaged in a discussion that eventually ended in a tight vote.

With 19 clubs in favor and 17 against, Dimayor approved the idea raised by the president of the Colombian Football Federation, Ramón Jesurún, and the maximum shareholder of Águilas Doradas, Fernando Salazar.

Thus, the League will be played as it had been approved, but the decrease will be made in the middle of next year, to maintain the figure of 40 games that had to be played to apply the current table.

In such a tight decision, there are always discordant voices. And the first to come out to complain was Eduardo Pimentel, maximum shareholder of Boyacá Chicó, who posted his position on his Twitter account:

Boyacá Chicó wanted the relegation to be eliminated this year and the 2021 tournament would be played with 22 teams. However, the issue was not considered, due to the tight schedule next year, in which, in addition to the League, Copa Colombia, Libertadores and Suramericana, Colombia has two international tournaments to organize, the Copa America and the South American sub-20.

In order to approve the decline in June, a modification had to be made in the statutes: “Statutory reform that allows modifying the tournament (only valid in the ‘Covid’ situation) with immediate applicability (which previously enshrined a period of 12 months for any modification will go into effect). The purpose of this is to be able to give greater agility in decision-making in the face of current uncertainty and the need to adapt to changing conditions ”, The president of Deportivo Cali, Marco Caicedo, explained to Futbolred.

It should be remembered that Boyacá Chicó is today the last of the relegation table with 82 points, two less than Jaguares and six below Deportivo Pereira.
