Eduardo Menem Honored by Argentine Congress for Service
In a moving ceremony held within the hallowed halls of the Argentine Congress, Eduardo Menem, a prominent figure in Argentine politics and brother of former President Carlos Menem, was bestowed with an "Honorable Mention" for his contributions to the nation. The event, organized by the Liberty Avanza bloc led by Gabriel Bornoroni, drew a diverse assembly of political figures past and present, many eager to pay tribute to Menem’s legacy.
The Chamber of Deputies, a place where Menem made his mark as a senator, opened its doors for the occasion. The Honorable Mention, presented by Juan Bautista Alberti, temporary vice president of the Senate, served as a testament to Menem’s impactful presence in Argentine politics.
"They told us a lot about Eduardo’s tenacity, his ability to negotiate, his willingness to work, to learn. And he not only cherished his prestigious brother, but he also went his own way," remarked Gabriel Bornoroni, reminiscing about Menem’s time in the Senate.
Notable figures graced the event, including members of La Libertad Avanza, a force in Argentine politics. The ceremony gained solemnity with a letter penned by Susana, Eduardo Menem’s wife. Proudly read by their grandson, the heartfelt letter recounted their 54 years of marriage, intertwined with Susana’s own political journey, a testament to their enduring partnership.

Menem expressed urgent concerns about the current global conflict, advocating for the pursuit of peace and stability amidst the turbulent times. He urged Argentina to assert its sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, a long-standing point of contention in Latin American politics.
"We knew it was going to be a special moment, but the turnout surpassed our expectations. The love for Eduardo is palpable, " expressed Bornoroni, highlighting the event’s significance.
