Eduard Hrubeš, moderator of the show So don’t hesitate and spin! – ČT24 – Czech Television

Eduard Hrubeš’s father was an opera baritone at the Janáček Opera in Brno and wanted to have a diplomat from his descendants, so he tried to develop his language education. Among other things, he put his son at a French grammar school.

But he left the diplomat’s path. After completing his university studies at the Faculty of Forestry and the War, Eduard Hrubeš decided to devote himself to film.

He studied film and television journalism at FAMU and in 1967 began working in the Army Department of Czechoslovak Television. During the normalization, however, he left ČST and instead of shooting documentaries, he gave conferences at concerts by orchestras by Václav Hybš and Ladislav Štaidl, KTO and Kometa.


Since the end of the 1970s, he has collaborated as a moderator, director, screenwriter and third trumpet player with the band Velkopopovická Kozlovka, of which he became the artistic director.

After the revolution in the Ostrava television studio for more than ten years, the popular show So Don’t Hesitate and Turn! composed of funny videos, he also presented memorial meetings in the Café born earlier or wrote screenplays for Marie Rottrová’s show Dostaveníčko pod věží.
