Edström suffered a stroke: “Began to look strange”

The popular football profile Ralf Edström has had several health problems in recent years. In 2013, he was operated on for prostate cancer (now declared a risk), he has had his knee joint replaced and this spring he had to spend four days in hospital after being bitten by his cat.

In an interview with Aftonbladet, he now also tells that he suffered a stroke in August this year.

– I usually solve crossword puzzles in the mornings and one morning I started to look weird. I told the wife that something was wrong, Edström tells Aftonbladet and continues:

– I thought it was a TIA (transient ischemic attack) at first. But after a magnetic resonance imaging, it turned out to be a stroke and it was sitting on the brain stem.

Edström further says that neither he nor the doctors know what triggered the stroke. But apart from not being allowed to drive a car for three months, he has no but from the stroke today.

As a football player, Edström represented clubs such as Degerfors, PSV Eindhoven, IFK Gothenburg, Standard Liege and Monaco. During his career, he won an Allsvenskan title, two Dutch league titles, a Ligue 1 title and two gold balls (1972, 1974).

After his career, he has since made a name for himself as an expert on Radiosporten.
