Edson Álvarez Injury Update: West Ham in Suspense for Premier League Match Against Wolverhampton

Edson Álvarez has West Ham in suspense.

The ‘Machín’, who in midweek became a figure for the Hammers in the Europa League with a great goal and an assist, is in doubt to face Wolverhampton in the Premier League.

David Moyes, coach of West Ham, explained that the Mexican will be a practically last-minute decision, since he is dealing with a blow he suffered in that duel against Freiburg for the Europa League.

Edson’s presence with West Ham is of vital importance, and even more so in the Premier League. In the last match for the Hammers, in that competition, Edson was absent due to a stomach upset and his team was beaten by Fulham.

“We have to wait and see how the boys are (after the Freiburg game). Edson Álvarez received a blow to the hip, but we will have to wait and see what he is like.

“We will evaluate the players when we have the opportunity. It’s a very quick change. I don’t think there’s enough time between games. Does that mean I’m going to turn sideways? I don’t know right now. We will see how the games go, how the boys perform and where their energy levels are,” Moyes said of the ‘Machín’.

CRITICAL NUMBER OF MATCHES!

On the other hand, David Moyes spoke out against the excessive number of games that clubs have to deal with in the calendar year, which exposes footballers to more injuries, such as the case of Álvarez.

“It’s the same for all the coaches and teams right now. We all have the dilemma with this number of games. We also have a Carabao Cup match next week which some teams don’t have, so we are in for a busy spell.

“Hopefully we can get through that, which would give us more games in January and make the schedule even busier. But all the teams at this time of the year have a heavy workload,” he stated.
