Editorial | responsible vaccination

Now that China has once again alarmed the world about the speed of spread that covid-19 has assumed in the Asian country, which has gone from imposing extreme restrictions to revoking them almost overnight, yesterday the Minister of Health, Alberto Gaitán, made the point a story of relative success in the city and in the rest of Spain, that of vaccination against the coronavirus disease, which after having caused thousands of victims (almost 200 already in Ceuta) has apparently been controlled thanks to immunization.

The member of the local council insisted on an indisputable scientific truth (except for irredeemable deniers, some of whom were public representatives) in that vaccination was and is the best weapon to fight the pandemic.

In the city, the dose inoculation rate in the population has been roughly comparable to that of the rest of the country, high, up until the current cycle of the second memory injection.

The large waves of citizens asking for a vaccine arrived in Ceuta when they were needed for practical matters such as crossing the border, but immunization should be a responsible gesture with ourselves, with our environment (above all to protect the most vulnerable ) and the whole of society.

The effort made by everyone to overcome the toughest period of the health crisis cannot be thwarted by irresponsibility or excessive security and the councilor is right to remind the entire population of Ceuta of this.
