In the midst of the pandemic, and the crisis due to the social protests of the last two weeks, it has been more than proven that it can be spoken of a “Colombian film industry”: thanks to favorable production laws, sustained for four periods presidential elections, and thanks to the creativity and drive of a series of managers and artists and moviegoers in this country, these last twenty years have served to create authors with their own voices and professionals with memorable careers in our cinematography.
In these twenty years they have been producing dozens and dozens of films in a land where from time to time a couple appeared: this text could run out of space if we cited the titles that have earned the respect and admiration of the great festivals of the world.
The pandemic, which decimated or closed cinemas more than a year ago, was a severe blow to an industry that lives off the box office and stimulus: some networks have made considerable efforts to adapt to the days of biosecurity, but, like Others in the world, Cine Colombia has preferred to give what is happening some time to resume its operation with a Colombian feature film that tells a story much loved by thousands of readers: the film adaptation of The oblivion that we will be.
Even in the face of closures, delays in productions and festivals, and the crisis in the field of financing, managers, filmmakers, technicians, actors and specialized journalists have been seen redoubling their ingenuity to resist on the platforms that are reaching everywhere and closing ranks in the name of what has been achieved thanks to consistent public policies.
It is worth looking at the example, of resistance and ingenuity, from the world of audiovisuals. The effort made by the Colombian cultural sector in these demanding months has been worthy of applause.
