The world changed. Our city changed. The pandemic has confronted us with new realities, new challenges and has also brought out the best in us. We are obliged to heal as individuals, our communities, our cities, our society today have the great challenge of healing a broken world. The role of art in the process is extremely important.
The study Healing a broken world – how to heal a wounded world recently published by Inter-American Development Bank – IDB stresses that historically art and culture have been fundamental to conceive new worlds, to visualize human capacities, to encourage the collective imagination and create routes for change that touch all aspects of our societies; going through the economic, the spiritual, the social and the technological. That is the vision that is imposed for the world. Art has saved us time and time again; he is doing it, he will continue to do it.
In Idartes we are committed to that mission, because we know the healing power of art and to that extent we align ourselves with the challenges of the world to recover what has been lost, to re-emerge with more force inward -in our city and our country- and outward, facing the world ; because in 2021 our advances in the positioning of the Idartes within the international scene; We cross borders, open windows and lead discussion processes regarding the management and future of the arts on the continent, fostering the I Pan-American Forum of Knowledge Management of the Arts, Art in the capitals of America, a meeting to get to know each other and build joint paths. We will continue to advance on that path.
With Idartes International, a window to the world, we have managed to take, with great pride, our talent and our ideas to different latitudes of the globe. We have participated in outstanding international congresses and platforms such as the International Society for Performing Arts – ISPA, the Global Toronto or the Bizkaia International Music Experience – BIME, which have allowed us to open new relationship spaces.
In the process programs like nests, Create Y Cultures in Common were recognized by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture – OEI for its good practices, positioning the Idartes on a major international platform.
But let’s go for more! In this year that begins, we reiterate our commitment not only to local art, but also to the environment, children, and women; That is why my invitation this time is to reflect on the true role of art and culture, on its healing capacity, on the paths that it opens for us to walk together, to create, to be, to advance and to make this a world better.
