Edition Thionville – Hayange | Masks and mutual aid with the Voisins solidaires network

From the first weeks of confinement, the Voisins solidaires network, desired by elected officials and run by active CCAS members, got to work.

Twenty-six volunteers accompanied more than 300 people, especially the elderly and those in difficulty, to offer them help or assistance with shopping, pharmacy purchases or simply chatting on the phone to break their isolation sometimes. too heavy.

“The people concerned were contacted by phone by the volunteers and everything went very well,” said Jean Pastor and Nicole Christen, ex-assistant and delegated advisor who piloted the operation.

400 cloth masks distributed

About fifteen seamstresses worked to make fabric masks, scrupulously following the advice and models defined by Afnor standards.

Thus, more than 400 washable masks, made available in packaging with instructions for use and advice on washing and maintenance, were distributed free of charge to all people aged 65 and over in the town, door to door , by members of the Voisins solidaires network.

The volunteers continue their work and more than 250 masks are thus available and to claim at the town hall for people who express the need. A big thank you to all of these volunteers!
