Initiated by Lionel Bieder, a well-known entrepreneur in Thionvillois, and director of the company Actor-France Augias-GROUP, the collective “Masques pour tous” was present this Friday, April 24 in the town of Yutz. Two Yussois members of the operation, Katia Birkelbach and Laurent Schultz, donated their time, to distribute free surgical masks and gloves to people present in the queues of Yussois shops and market stalls. “The goal is for everyone to be able to do their basic shopping while reducing the risk of contamination,” says Katia Birkelbach. It is also an opportunity to recall the instructions for using this equipment and the need to respect barrier gestures.

Other operations of the same type will take place soon in Yutz, but also in Thonville, Terville, Manom ​​and Hettange-Grande, “as soon as the delivery of several hundred thousand masks will be carried out, during the next week”, concludes Katia, inviting “anyone in demand” to go to the Thionville Solidarity volunteers’ Facebook page.

€ 4,000 of equipment offered

Earlier in the week, the Thionville-Yutz Rive droite Rotary Club donated food and supplies to the Sainte Élisabeth clinic, as well as Les Bleuets and Les Érables nursing homes. Pastries, first, from Maison Boulot, for the care staff, secondly disposable material, such as plates, cutlery and disposable but recyclable cups, as well as hydroalcoholic gel and gloves. “Or a donation of around € 4,000 offered by a local merchant,” comments Émeric Genilleau, former president of the service club, who was able to count, for the distribution of these four pallets of equipment, with the help of the technical services of the City of Yutz, graciously made available.

Last Wednesday, April 29, from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., the associations of FC Yutz and L’Allée du Rêve will organize a distribution of masks made by volunteers at the Saint-Exupéry gymnasium. Solidarity continues at Yutz.
