Edition Thionville – Hayange | Apprentices happy to resume lessons

After long weeks of forced non-activity, the Saint-André d’Ottange vocational high school finds students, in this case apprentices in the optician-eyewear section.

The theoretical and practical courses resume at the Saint-André professional high school, after a week spent in business, the apprentices, twenty in number, were pleased to find the classrooms, their teachers as well as friends and girlfriends. “In order to respect the sanitary rules for distance, we have formed two groups, we only welcome ten apprentices at a time,” said the director, Didier Sabio.

Health protocol respected

Each and everyone has a table, wears a mask and adds a visor during practical exams. “We also provide hydro alcoholic gel, wipes, equipment and products financed by our establishment”. This return to activity should, if authorization is given, continue at the beginning of June with the welcome of several other young people, particularly the 3e Business Preparation. “We asked their parents, out of 22 students, 12 agree to resume lessons, that’s enough.” The director adds: “Naturally, for these pupils as for the apprentices, the health protocol will be scrupulously applied”.

Distance courses

Concerned about their future, the students were, during the confinement period, assiduous in the distance educational continuity provided by the Lycée Saint-André. “We have noticed very few dropouts and our teachers have been exemplary,” said Didier Sabio, who says he has confidence in the future, projects are coming to fruition, including the construction of new changing rooms and toilets. “We are completing our program to modernize the premises for the well-being of all and are preparing educational facilities that will allow our school to open up new perspectives for students.”
