Edition Thionville – Hayange | A dismembered body found in the Moselle

It was a macabre discovery, to say the least, that a jogger made on Sunday morning on the banks of the Moselle in Thionville. At the end of the morning, the man, running at the level of the lock, observed a mass floating on the surface of the water: it was a human trunk.

The corpulence suggests the presence of an adult victim. For the rest, mystery. According to initial observations, the body appeared to be severed at the level of the upper bust and lower limbs. The Metz judicial police were seized of the file.

DNA research

At the moment, this is proving to be particularly complicated. In the absence of fingerprints, faces and even private parts, it is impossible to determine the profile of the victim and even less their identity. The body was sent to Nancy for an autopsy. The DNA search could in particular be linked to the file of persons reported missing, which could put investigators on a trail.

The other topic is the dating and the circumstances of the death. In the coming days, additional explorations could take place in the river to find any other parts of the body.

Whatever the outcome of the investigation, it is a particularly sordid affair that occupies investigators.
