Edition Metz and agglomeration | Rise in mortality on Moselle roads: strengthening of controls during the Pentecost weekend

The containment and the consequent drop in traffic which it caused made it possible to mechanically reduce the number of road victims, all categories of users combined. In Moselle, a decrease (-22%) of accidents (132 in 2019 against 103 in 2020) was noted; a decrease (-33%) in the number of injured (172 in 2019 against 85 in 2020); a further decrease (-26%) in the number of hospitalizations following a road accident (74 in 2019 compared to 41 in 2020).

Irresponsible behavior

The Moselle prefecture recalls that “irresponsible behavior on the roads is dangerous. They are likely to increase the number of wounded taken to hospital emergency services in the context of a still significant mobilization of health personnel to deal with the consequences of the current health crisis. “

Reinforced controls

A reminder which will be accompanied, on the occasion of this long weekend of Pentecost, by a strong mobilization of the police in the department to ensure strict compliance with the highway code in a concern of “prevention but also of sanction ”.

A word to the wise!
