Edition Metz and agglomeration | Radio Frequency Mettis’age: a window open to the nursing home

“Seniors die from Covid. But also of distress. The social bond is care, “recalls Christophe L’Huillier, founder of the Messina Intemporelle association. An obvious fact, which however the guardians of public finances too often forget: “The persons in charge of establishments and the carers know the value of this social bond, but it is the means that are lacking”. Christophe Lhuiller fears that the unused budgets will be lost, which would endanger this discreet but essential sector of animation in retirement homes.

For many years, the association has woven links between seniors, people with disabilities, young people in neighborhoods, isolated people and the rest of society. In the Moselle region, around thirty establishments for the elderly have joined this network, as well as young people from a district of Thionville with the cultural space of the Nest. To extend its social, societal and united action, Intemporelle gave birth in 2019 to a webradio, Frequency Metiss’age , moderated by Arnaud Sonntag.

Program with experts

And the pandemic has arrived. Then containment. Nursing home workers are stranded outside the nursing homes. Fréquence Mettis’age redoubles its inventiveness, creates a program schedule with testimonials, games, chronicles, literary podcasts, an Italian program, practical information. In April, the station sees arriving 1,300 new listeners, the meter explodes. Monday, May 4, a special program will bring together experts in support of the elderly. A look will be carried from Metz and Quebec, and towards the whole world, by these researchers, documentary maker, journalist.

To continue the activities in Ehpad and in residences, Intemporelle is setting up a project for a park of digital tablets and video projector, which would be loaned from one establishment to another after disinfection. “It would be a good way to keep in touch, even from a distance. We look forward to having access to the facilities for the elderly again. But we don’t count on it until at least September, maybe December ”.
