Edited immune cells survive and multiply in tumors

Scientists made a new discovery by conducting a series of studies and experiments with tumors.

According to Today News Ufa, the authors of the work introduced immune cells into genetically modified cancers using CRISPR technology. After they got these cells a few months later, they saw that the cells were not something that was not damaged, but even increased their numbers. The results of a new study were published in a foreign journal.

After that, the scientists introduced the obtained cells into the cancerous formations of 3 patients and showed that the synthetic structures can multiply in them, and all of their “offspring” retains three edited genes.

Already after, the authors of the work made the fourth change in the genome using lentivirus in order to create a synthetic receptor in the cells, which enables them to target the NY-ESO-1 antigen. Research is planned to continue in this direction.

Earlier, we wrote that doctors estimated the scale of the epidemic of the new coronavirus.
