FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) Edi Hasibuan highlighted the case of alleged blackmail by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
According to Edi Hasibuan, this case could affect public trust in the anti-corruption agency currently led by Firli Bahuri. He asked the Polda Metro Jaya who handled this case to be professional to avoid turmoil in society.
Edi emphasized that Lemkapi fully supports the legal process carried out by the police against anyone if indications of violations are found. “As long as investigators have sufficient evidence, we must respect it. Anyone who is indicated to have violated the law must of course be prosecuted legally,” stressed the police observer, Sunday (8/10).
He considered the increase in status from investigation to investigation into alleged extortion as a signal that Polda Metro Jaya investigators had found a criminal element in it.
“Due to this increase in status, Polda Metro Jaya will announce that there are suspects in it. We believe that Polda Metro Jaya investigators have followed legal procedures according to existing provisions,” said Edi Hasibuan.
The postgraduate lecturer at Bhayangkara University, Jakarta, said that in order to improve the status of an investigation into an investigation, investigators have of course asked for information from many parties, including expert witnesses, completed evidence and carried out a case title.
Previously, Polda Metro Jaya started an investigation into alleged extortion by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Syahrul has been questioned three times in this case by Polda Metro Jaya.
