Former Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Edhy Prabowo, denied having bought luxury goods using money from the profits of the fry export cargo company. Edhy admitted that he had a large income, especially when he was a member of the People’s Representative Council (DPR).
Initially, the prosecutor clarified Edhy regarding the statement of his former personal secretary, Amiril Mukminin, who stated that the purchase of land in Cibodas Village, Kutawaringin, Bandung Regency came from the accounts of PT ACK commissioners, Achmad Bahtiar and Amri. Edhy also denied that statement.
“I didn’t know it was Achmad Bahtiar or Amri’s money, which I believe I have Amiril’s money,” said Edhy in a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday (17/6/2021).
Edhy Prabowo admitted that he did not know that any of the money managed by Amiril came from the account of the commissioner of PT ACK. He also said that spending on luxury goods during a working visit to the United States used his money which was held by Amiril.
“I felt it was my money and didn’t know it was from PT ACK,” he said.
Edhy then explained where the source of the income he got was to buy land and a number of other luxury items. He claimed to have collected money since serving as a member of the DPR RI.
“First I became a member of the DPR RI for one period, in the second period I saved enough I believe there was more than Rp. 10 million of the money from him, from his official trips, from work visits, one work visit which 5 times a year is almost Rp. 400 million to South Sumatra. Then the election district visit for 6 times a year is Rp. 175 million per visit. Then I have a recess budget, there is a working visit budget, there is a budget for overseas working visits which can be up to 5 times because I am the chairman of the commission and the DPR faction There are money representing the MPR,” he explained.
Edhy Prabowo said he could even collect around Rp 5 billion per year while serving as a member of the DPR.
“I can calculate that in a year, even if we want to globalize, we can collect IDR 5 billion in a year. But that’s not my personal right, so I didn’t send it home, I managed it to Amiril,” he continued.
