Actor Edgar Ramírez encouraged his followers on Wednesday to “trust science” and, if they can, get vaccinated, after revealing that he lost three relatives in Venezuela who contracted covid-19 in less than 72 hours.
“My heart cannot bear any more pain,” wrote the Venezuelan in his Instagram account.
In his publication he recounted how he lost an aunt on Saturday, Sunday an uncle and Monday, “still without processing the shock and horror of the weekend,” or another relative.
Ramírez regretted that they all died “exactly one month and two days” after his grandmother Bertha died as a result of the virus, and four months after his Venezuelan agent and friend, Laureano, died from the same cause.
“None of them had been vaccinated. None had access to a vaccine in Venezuela, “he said.
“Meanwhile,” he continued, “in the United States, tens of thousands of vaccines are discarded because a large number of people do not want them.”
The interpreter pointed out that, while his family and “millions of people go through the nightmare of losing their loved ones because there are not enough vaccines,” his hope is that anyone who can get vaccinated “will do so today.”
“Receiving a vaccine is an act of compassion,” added Ramírez, who also referred to a conversation he had on the subject with the main epidemiologist of the US Government, Anthony Fauci.
“I encourage you to trust science, to consume and disseminate only truthful information … and please, please, please … if you can, VACCINATE, so that you can help save those around you,” he concluded .
