The Portuguese international issued, this Monday, a statement in which he reacts to the words of Susana Torres, who accused the athlete of “ingratitude”. Éder guarantees that she lost respect for the “mental coach” and explained the end of the call.

Éder Lopes and Susana Torres were a much talked about duo in 2016 – the Portuguese international scored the goal, against France, which gave Portugal the European title and the “mental coach” became known for having helped the athlete – but the relationship between both It has seen better days. It all started when the player was interviewed on Rádio Renascença by Joana Marques and Ana Galvão under the heading “As Três da Manhã” and, during the conversation, denied some statements made by Susana Torres, considering them “unreasonable”. Among the various statements, the guarantees that the player had linked to Susana crying after scoring the goal in the European Championship and that he wanted to be the best scorer of the selection stood out.

Susana Torres, who had also criticized Joana Marques after being the protagonist of an episode of the podcast “Extremely Unpleasant”, did not like the athlete’s statements and, in a video published on Instagram, accused Éder of “ingratitude”.

“Everyone realized that it wasn’t an interview, but something carefully prepared with one objective, to get at me. And there they managed to get him to say anything but the truth. They even managed to get him to say that kicking me was more important than the goal kick in the final, for which we will always remember him. How do you remember the time when, for reasons that had nothing to do with football, you took refuge in my house, living with all my family, who welcomed you and supported you, who were you with when you received the news of your call-up to the national team? I deeply regret the feeling of ingratitude that my family has in the face of Éder’s attitude and that is what hurts us the most”, he wrote.

This Monday, Éder decided to respond to Susana Torres and accused the “mental coach” of taking advantage of his story.

“At the end of the game that gave Portugal victory at Euro 2016, I made a point of thanking Susana Torres, the mental coach I was working with at the time. I did it (and would do it again) because I believe that we should be grateful, and I wanted to repay that help, also contributing to Susana’s professional success. I am therefore perplexed when I see Susana Torres now accusing me of ingratitude. I wanted to concentrate on my football career and Susana wanted me to ask days off for my coach to come to Portugal to give interviews to promote his work. What I have seen in recent years is Susana taking advantage of my story, even appropriating that goal in the Euro 2016 final. She talks about it as her own , which in interviews, or on its website where we can read ‘a European football championship won”, wrote Éder, ensuring that he “lost respect” for Susana Torres.
