Eden Hazard officially announced his retirement as a professional football player this Tuesday (10), at the age of 32.
The attacking midfielder had successful periods in Lille e no Chelsea before ending his career after a disappointing spell at Real Madrid between 2019 and 2023.
“You must listen to yourself and stop at the right time,” wrote Eden Hazard in an Instagram post.
“After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I decided to end my career as a professional football player. I managed to make my dream come true, I played and had fun on various fields around the world.”
“During my career I was lucky enough to meet great managers, coaches and teammates – thank you all for these great moments. I will miss you all.”
Hazard thanked his three clubs – Lille, Chelsea and Real Madrid – as well as the Belgian FA and national team in his statement.

“A special thank you to my family, my friends, my advisors and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad,” the post continued.
“Finally, a big thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me all these years and for your encouragement everywhere I have played. Now is the time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences. See you off the field soon, my friends.”
Hazard has won five national titles in his career (two with Chelsea and Real Madrid, and one with Lille), as well as a number of individual awards.
The attacking midfielder was an important part of the new generation of Belgium players who achieved third place in the world Cup 2018, losing in the semifinals to France, who took the title.
