Eddie Nketiah’s Impressive Start at Arsenal and Healthy Competition with Gabriel Jesus

Jakarta

Eddie Nketiah got a call from England national team after impressing with Arsenal at the start of this season. The 24-year-old striker considers healthy competition with gabriel jesus helped him ‘up grade’.

Jesus’ knee injury has given Nketiah more opportunities. He always appeared in Arsenal’s first four matches in the Premier League, three of which became a starter and managed to contribute two goals.

When Jesus recovered, Nketiah was still trusted by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. This is natural when you see the pace of the Gunners who are unbeaten so far.

Gareth Southgate was also impressed and called him up for the matches against Scotland and Ukraine this month. Everything was a sweet start for Nketiah, who since breaking into the Arsenal senior team has never really sealed his status as the main striker.

He also did not hesitate to mention Jesus as one of the factors that played a role in helping him get to this point. Because, even though he is only two years older, Jesus has more experience at a high level.

“He (Jesus) is a fantastic player and a great person off the field. Our relationship is good. It’s nice to be able to compete with people of his level,” said Nketiah, quoted by ESPN.

“That helps me a lot and we both know we want to do the same thing, which is to help the team, contribute and score goals. We push each other naturally, we push each other in the game as well.”

“Our competition is healthy and friendly. We know that sometimes we will play together, sometimes I will play, sometimes he will. We have a good relationship and we always support each other.”

“We have the same desire, which is to help Arsenal. I hope this season will be extraordinary for both of us,” explained Nketiah.
