– In a recent interview, AEW star Eddie Kingston spoke openly about his injuries and the difficult road to recovery. Kingston sustained several serious injuries during a ropeless Last Man Standing Match against Gabe Kidd on May 11, 2024 at NJPW Resurgence.
A suplex through a table resulted in a broken leg, a broken tibia, and a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus. These injuries required surgery in July 2024. Kingston hopes to return to the ring in May 2025.
During a conversation with The DAVINci Report, Kingston also spoke about his frustrations with his insurance company and the challenges of the recovery process. He expressed himself as follows:
“I’m recovering from a broken tibia, a strained meniscus and I had to get my ACL repaired. So a lot of fun.
It’s a process. Everything goes well until my insurance fails and then I get angry. Insurance is a scam, people. I just wanted to say that.”
Kingston also reported that he is gradually making progress and can now start running and doing light exercise again. However, he is impatient to get back in shape and back sooner:
“It starts to make me itch to get home. I start to say, ‘Good. Because now I can run a little bit. I can walk, I can lift weights now and I can do some squats, not too deep. Now it’s gotten to the point where I say, ‘Good, let’s do it faster, let’s do it.'”
Despite his injury, Kingston is grateful for the financial security and support of his employer. In a thoughtful remark, he recounted his time in the independent leagues, when he struggled with injuries and could barely keep himself afloat financially.
“There are days when I’m mentally down, but there are also times when I think, ‘I still remember when I got injured on the indies and couldn’t pay anything. I’m blessed to be part of a company that still helped me through my injury. I still get those direct deposits, you know what I mean?'”
In addition to recovering, Kingston passes the time playing video games and following the latest developments of his beloved New York sports teams.
– In recent months, RUSH has come to the fore as a singles wrestler in AEW and has shown interest in an alliance with the Don Callis Family, among others. He recently hinted at a possible collaboration with Roderick Strong and The Beast Mortos. While RUSH continues to be active in AEW, his brother and LFI colleague Dralistico has largely disappeared from the shows since November 2023, more precisely since AEW Full Gear. At that time, the two fought together in a 4-Way Ladder Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, but Dralistico has not competed in a match on AEW TV since then.
On Monday, September 23, 2024, RUSH released a promo video on X that builds great excitement around the return of La Facción Ingobernable (LFI). In the video, RUSH and Dralistico can be seen on a rooftop in Mexico City, while RUSH gives a powerful speech to his brother, calling on Dralistico to be ready to return and shake up the AEW roster together again. RUSH said verbatim:
“Look around, what do you see? Mexico. Thanks to Mexico and the companies we were in, we had everything. I asked you to change and you did. That’s you, forget the past, I want you the way you train today. I want you the way you showed me, the last test you did, that’s what I need.”
He added: “That’s you now, remember, and now I need you like our father trained us. I need that in our company, remember, our company is called AEW, and it’s time for La Facción Ingobernable to come back and kick people’s asses!”

The promo suggests that a return of Dralistico and the LFI could be in the near future, although a specific date for Dralistico’s comeback on AEW TV is still unclear. However, the announcement is already causing excitement and speculation about when and how LFI will intervene in the events of AEW.
