Eddie Jordan on the disease: “I had aggressive cancer”

Former Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan revealed he has “aggressive” prostate and bladder cancer. “In March and April I was diagnosed with a prostate and bladder cancer. And then the cancer spread to my spine and pelvis. It was quite aggressive,” the 76-year-old told the podcast Formula For Success published Thursday.

Jordan founded the F1 team Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, where champions such as Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill e Nigel Mansell. “They were very dark days, but I made it.”

Jordan also said that he feels a little better now and that he made his illness public because he was inspired by the track cycling legend Chris Hoywho revealed a diagnosis of terminal prostate cancer in October. Jordan also encouraged men to get regular medical checkups. “Don’t put it off, get tested. There is so much help out there to prolong your life. Don’t be stupid,” he said, adding that there is no reason to be ashamed.
