Edavārdi: Rapper from Riga Releases New Single “Bēdīgi” and Teases Upcoming Album

“The single “Bēdīgi” and the video of the song were created, of course, in parallel with the organization of the two concerts, because everything in life needs to be complicated. When creating this piece, I primarily thought of “rap heads”, who will certainly be able to appreciate both the lyrics of the song and the accompaniment that I created drumless (a sound that does not contain percussion and/or drums) in aesthetics.

Like all creative ideas, the “Sad” video was a risky affair, a “shot in the dark” that took a lot of time, but once I believed that this approach could work, there was no going back.

With this single and the two “sad” concerts, I stopped dealing with these melancholic themes. The tears have been shed, the year has come to an end. It’s time for a new album and maybe also a “Happy” concert,” says the rapper about the single and his creative activity.

Edavārdi is a rapper from Riga who has been active on the Latvian scene for more than 10 years. Has released a total of eight albums and an EP, as well as participated in collaborative projects with “Very Cool People”, “Riekstu Armija”, “Nova Koma” and “Visas Taisnības”. Gained recognition both in the local hip-hop scene and outside of it with such songs as “Kachā Karmu”, “Galvaskaus”, “Viss Ir Sarkūrti” and “Teikuma Beigais”. During the last 10 years, he has performed at the biggest Latvian festivals, as well as at countless events in Riga and other places in Latvia. Edavārdi was active in the associations KRATA, PKI and “Riekstu Armija”, and is also a member of the association “Singapore Satin”.
